So the new year is here, the excitement is building and there are so many great adventures on the horizon! As you embrace this exciting newness, and feel full of hope, you start to feel differently, lighter somehow, with a bit of a hop, skip and jump built into your stride. This may not be very visible to others, however they can see your smile, your joy, your effervesence and your happiness. You are oozing and overflowing with hope and possibility, and it shows! Your inner glow is beaming out to the world and you are feeling EPIC……..but sometimes those closest to you don’t see what you see, and don’t feel what you feel and perhaps are a little ‘miffed’ that you seem so happy, especially when they are not. You start to feel a little jaded, and perhaps start to pretend, or suppress your excitement, letting it out again when no one is looking.
So what if this new adventure is your new business? You are so excited, and your business is taking off and gaining momentum, yet your friends and family don’t understand, and think you’re crazy for getting involved. Worse still, they inadvertently put you down, and make jokes about you because this warped banter is somehow acceptable when you are the topic of conversation.

This, my friends, is the Rocky Road of the Entrepreneur. Get used to it. The best way to deal with it? Believe in yourself. Believe in your purpose. Don’t hide your light under a bushel just to make other people feel better about themselves. Build your resilience. Spend time with like-minded people, those who want to see you excel and believe in you. They will lift you higher, when you need it most. Your truth is enough. Be strong and in time you will develop a thick skin. You will need it as the Rocky Road is unchanging. What changes is your ability to change how you respond to the negativity and see your way through to a brighter place. Focus on doing what you need to do, to get you to where you want to be. Always be thankful. Smile.

‘Day by day in every way I’m getting better and better’, as stated by the wonderful Emil Coue, is a ‘mantra’ that really describes me and my journey over the last year. I’m so excited about 2017! I am having an awakening, just as the little girl in the film ‘Miracle on 34th Street’ had when she started to entertain the possibility that Santa Claus might exist. I do feel somewhat ashamed… in the last two months I have made little effort to stop and smell the roses. Too busy being busy perhaps? Oh dear.. well I hope not, and that will certainly have to change if it really IS the case! With two days left to the end of the year and the start of 2017, I really am excited. How do you feel?
So I was chatting with my dear friend Patricia, who has many talents, which include being an amazing hairdresser. As I was under the hairdryer, I was focused on her incredible red boots. She kindly let me take a picture, which I have attached below. I was so attracted to these boots, but not necessarily for the boots in particular, but because of the symbolism and what they represented to me. I thought it interesting that the shiny bold attractive redness, mirrored my dear friend Patricia’s personality – or perhaps my perception of her personality. Vibrant, joyful, happy, strong, carefree and eclectic. But I was left with the words ‘strong bold courage’. I realised that these were personality traits and emotions that I recognised in myself.
However, I will be the first to admit that I do not feel strong, bold and courageous everyday! Far from it! However I can possess the spirit of boldness, and the spirit of courage, everyday, which in turn makes me feel strong. It feels great – well of course, why wouldn’t it? It would make anyone feel great! So why do we not do more to cultivate boldness and courage each day?

true leader? How can I develop self-belief and confidence in my existence, purpose and mission in life? How can I nurture a vibrant and healthy love for my Maker, myself and others?
But I want to be truly dressed for action! I want to be wrapped in light and love and ready to take on the world as my authentic self. Me. What is the easiest and most natural way for me to do that? With my smile. I want to show up each day with the best smile I can muster. Because that’s just me.
